A link will be sent to you 24 hours prior to the meeting.\nTopic:\n“Energy Market of the Future”\n\nClimate change and the energy transition are driving the energy market of the future, along with government policies and individual purchasing decisions. Activists want the transition to happen quickly, but the physics and scale of the changes needed represent real hurdles. Overcoming these hurdles will be a challenge. Reality dictates that these issues need to be addressed. However, as we seek the solutions and technologies needed, we must keep in mind that the power delivered meets the three critical qualities we expect and demand from our energy supply – that it be clean, affordable, and reliable. We can and will solve the climate change and energy transition challenges, but the timing will disappoint some while angering others. How do we balance the pressures? Are the solutions easy or hard? What are we willing to pay for these technologies and solutions?  Many questions but few answers.       \nSpeaker:\n\nG. Allen Brooks\n\nFor over 50 years, Mr. Brooks has been actively engaged in the energy industry in various roles.  He has been an energy securities analyst, an oilfield service company manager, a consultant to energy company managements, a director of numerous oilfield service companies, and the author of a highly regarded energy newsletter.  From 2005 to 2023, Mr. Brooks was an advisor to PPHB LP, a boutique oilfield service investment banking firm, where he provided proprietary research for the firm’s partners and analysts.  PPHB also distributed his newsletter, Energy Musings, which was the new name of his long-time newsletter, Musings From the Oil Patch, which started publication in 1999.  \nDuring his career as a Wall Street energy and oilfield service securities analyst, Mr. Brooks was recognized as a Wall Street Journal All-Star analyst.  From 1997 to 2005, Mr. Brooks headed the oilfield service equity research team at CIBC World Markets, and before that was the senior oilfield service analyst with the New Orleans-based energy research firm, Howard Weil.  \nBefore re-entering the financial industry, Mr. Brooks was a member of the senior management team of ENSCO International, the Dallas-based international offshore contract drilling company that is now Valaris Limited during the time the company was rapidly growing.  He was responsible for corporate development, financial projects, and investor relations, and he managed the legal department along with being the company’s Corporate Secretary.  \nAn Economics graduate of the University of Connecticut, Mr. Brooks also has an M.S. degree in Economics from Cornell University.  He started his investment career in 1969 and received his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1975.  His present and past memberships include the National Association of Corporate Directors, Canada’s Institute of Corporate Directors, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, as well as the National Association of Petroleum Investment Analysts, an organization he headed for two years.  \nBesides publishing Energy Musings, Mr. Brooks offers commentary on energy matters for three energy publications.  \n\n\nRegistration (NEW FEES):\n\n\nEarly Bird\n\n$50 – Members\n$60 – Non-Members\n$15 – Rice University Faculty\n$0 – Rice University Students\n$30 – Webinar – online only\n\n\nOn-site\n\n$60 – Members\n$70 – Non-Members\n\n\n\nIn person registration includes a hot, buffet lunch. Registration will close at Noon on Wednesday, April 5, 2023.\n\n\nFollow www.DownstreamCalendar.com for upcoming industry events.
