About AMPP
AMPP, the Association for Materials Protection and Performance, is the world’s largest global community of corrosion-control and protective-coatings professionals. Formed through the combination of NACE International and SSPC, AMPP develops technical standards, education, certifications, conferences, publications, and industry resources that support the protection of infrastructure and industrial assets.
What does AMPP stand for?
AMPP stands for the Association for Materials Protection and Performance. The organization focuses on corrosion prevention, protective coatings, materials performance, cathodic protection, inspection, asset integrity, and the long-term protection of infrastructure and industrial assets.
What is the AMPP organization?
The Association for Materials Protection and Performance is a global professional organization serving the corrosion-control, protective-coatings, and materials-protection industries. AMPP provides technical standards, training, professional certifications, contractor accreditation, research, publications, advocacy, conferences, and networking opportunities.
AMPP serves professionals and companies across oil and gas, pipelines, refining, petrochemical processing, power generation, marine, transportation, water and wastewater, infrastructure, defense, manufacturing, and renewable energy.
Is NACE the same as AMPP?
NACE International is not exactly the same organization as AMPP, but it is one of AMPP’s two legacy organizations. AMPP was formed when NACE International, formerly known as the National Association of Corrosion Engineers, combined with SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings.
Many technical standards, certifications, and industry qualifications were historically identified by the NACE or SSPC names. These programs are now being managed or transitioned under AMPP, although legacy terms such as “NACE certification” and “NACE standards” are still widely used in specifications and industry conversations.
What is the AMPP Annual Conference + Expo?
The AMPP Annual Conference + Expo is a major international event for corrosion prevention, protective coatings, materials performance, and asset integrity professionals. The conference features peer-reviewed technical papers, presentation-only sessions, panel discussions, training, committee meetings, professional networking, and an exhibition of products and technologies.
The AMPP Annual Conference + Expo 2027 will take place April 11–15, 2027, in Columbus, Ohio. Its technical program will address corrosion control, coatings, cathodic protection, inspection, materials selection, pipeline integrity, infrastructure protection, artificial intelligence, digitalization, and other emerging technologies.
How much is an AMPP membership?
AMPP currently promotes an individual membership for $99 USD per year. Membership pricing may vary based on membership category, location, student eligibility, corporate participation, or other available programs. Prospective members should review the official AMPP membership page for current pricing and eligibility requirements.
AMPP membership can provide access to technical standards, publications, industry communities, professional networking, educational resources, and discounts on selected conferences, courses, certifications, and publications.
Where is AMPP headquartered?
AMPP is headquartered in the United States and maintains principal offices in Houston, Texas, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- Houston office: 15835 Park Ten Place, Houston, Texas 77084, USA
- Pittsburgh office: 800 Trumbull Drive, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15205, USA
AMPP also maintains additional international offices and career-development resources serving its global membership.
When did NACE become AMPP?
AMPP officially launched on January 6, 2021, following the combination of NACE International and SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings. Rather than NACE simply changing its name, the two legacy associations joined to form the Association for Materials Protection and Performance.
The combination brought together NACE’s corrosion-control expertise and SSPC’s protective-coatings expertise under one global organization. AMPP marked its fifth anniversary as a unified association in 2026.
