Brazosport ISD held the official groundbreaking ceremony for the state-of-the-art Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center at Brazosport High School. The ceremony was held on May 22, 2023, marking a significant milestone in the district’s commitment to providing exceptional educational opportunities to provide students with practical skills to prepare them for the workforce.

The renovation project commenced with the construction of cutting-edge welding and construction labs, followed by the addition of a cosmetology program. The phased construction will also include upgrading existing infrastructure to create state-of-the-art learning environments for students.

Each classroom within the CTE Center has been carefully designed and equipped to serve as the hub of innovation, fostering creativity, collaboration, and project-based, and hands-on learning. This facility will provide our students with access to cutting-edge technology, modern workshops, and industry-standard equipment across a wide range of programs; starting with the 2023-2024 school year, spanning fields such as Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources; Architecture and Construction; Graphic Design & Multimedia Arts; Arts, Audio/Video Technology and Communication; Business, Marketing, and Finance; Education and Training; Health Science; Hospitality and Tourism (Culinary); Human Services (Cosmetology); Advanced Manufacturing and Machinery Mechanics (Robotics); Welding; and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Brazosport ISD has worked closely with industry partners to ensure that the programs align with the demands of the job market. Through a major giving campaign, these partners have generously invested in the CTE Center, recognizing the importance of equipping students with skills that will meet both current and future workforce needs. By anticipating the changing nature of careers and technology, Brazosport ISD aims to prepare students for jobs that may not even exist yet, securing their future success.

The school district is grateful for the overwhelming support from the community, which has played a pivotal role in the realization of the CTE Center. The community’s backing of the district’s bond initiatives and commitment to the next generation of leaders has been instrumental in creating this exceptional facility.

Superintendent Danny Massey expressed his gratitude for the community’s support and emphasized the significance of partnerships in enhancing students’ learning experiences. “Our mission is to graduate each student as future-ready, and we firmly believe that partnerships are vital to achieving this goal,” said Massey. “By collaborating with local industries and businesses, we gain valuable insights into workforce demands which require a different approach to education, one that not only focuses on academic excellence but also emphasizes practical skills and real-world experiences, all to ensure our graduates possess the skills required for high-wage, high-demand areas.”

The new Career and Technical Education Center at Brazosport High School will set a new standard for excellence in education, fostering a generation of skilled professionals who are well-prepared to thrive in the ever-evolving job market.
