With over two decades of experience, Southwest Pipe Services is a trusted and qualified contractor committed to ensuring the safety and compliance of your operations for environmental pipeline solutions for pipeline abatement of PCBs and asbestos containing materials.
Understanding PCBs and the Need for Abatement
Polychlorinated Biphenyls, commonly known as PCBs, are synthetic organic chemicals widely used in industrial applications, including oil and gas equipment. Due to their harmful effects on human health and the environment, PCBs have been recognized as hazardous substances, prompting the need for comprehensive abatement strategies.
Why Remove PCBs from Oil and Gas Pipelines?
PCBs pose significant risks to both the environment and human health. When present in oil and gas pipelines, these contaminants can lead to long-term ecological damage and potential health hazards for workers and nearby communities. Removing PCBs is not only a legal requirement but also a crucial practice to ensure the integrity of operations and uphold environmental stewardship.

About Southwest Pipe Services:
Southwest Pipe Services, Inc. (Swp) is an environmental service company specializing in the mechanical removal of pipe coatings. Our services are performed for many clients in the oil and gas, petrochemical, and energy industries. We can perform these services at our Alvin, TX, or Winfield, KS facilities. Southwest Pipe Services can even mobilize to a client’s job site or facility and perform cleaning services on-site. Many of the coatings we remove are classified as regulated waste by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), containing asbestos (ACM) and Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs). SWP handles the removal of these coatings as specified by all local, state, and federal regulating agencies. If you are responsible for handling these types of material, you know how expensive it can be. SWP helps alleviate, and in most cases eliminate, these costs by purchasing your pipe once cleaned or decontaminated. Our processes can net you a check instead of an invoice. SWP also buys surplus and used take-up pipe. If the purchased pipe is used and removed from the ground, it goes through our reclamation processes. The pipe is straightened, and the dents are repaired and then cleaned. Once cleaned, the ends are beveled, and short pieces are welded together.
